The Szeged-Timisoara Sata Space for Smart Communities (STiDS) Project has been awarded EU funding under the Digital Europe Programme. The project aims to enhance urban mobility, environmental monitoring, and data-driven governance in the two cities, supporting their transition toward more sustainable and efficient urban environments.

The STiDS Project focuses on developing smart city solutions that leverage real-time data to optimize public transportation, reduce traffic congestion, and improve air quality monitoring. It will also establish a shared digital infrastructure to promote cross-border collaboration and data exchange between Szeged and Timisoara.

As a member of the consortium, RDE will contribute to the project by facilitating knowledge transfer, supporting the implementation of digital solutions, and ensuring the quality and interoperability of the developed systems. Our role aligns with our ongoing commitment to advancing digital innovation that delivers practical benefits to urban communities.

The European Commission has announced the results of the European Green Deal Data Space implementation call. SAGE, a collaborative project supported by a strong consortium including RDE, has been named as the winning initiative. Starting in early 2025 and spanning three years, SAGE will establish a comprehensive data space aimed at enhancing environmental and sustainability-related data sharing across the EU. RDE will play a key role in delivering value-added services and supporting critical use cases, including forestry management and biodiversity protection.

The European Digital Wallet Consortium (EWC) hosted its regular half-yearly conference in Madrid, bringing together stakeholders to discuss the latest developments in the EUDIWallet initiative. Representatives from the European Commission, Member States, and consortium members shared progress updates, best practices, and implementation insights. RDE took the stage to present first-hand experiences from Member State EUDIWallet implementations, showcasing lessons learned and strategies for success.

RDE’s innovative age verification solution for the European Digital Wallet continues to gain recognition as a key milestone in digital identity development. The project, part of the EWC Large-Scale Pilot, showcases seamless integration of self-sovereign identity technology with real-world applications, setting a benchmark for secure and user-centric digital identity solutions.

RDE and its partners have ventured into a new territory within the realm of Data Spaces and data sharing: Smart Communities. At the stakeholder forum of the Open and Agile Smart Cities (OASC) initiative, RDE announced its collaboration with the cities of Szeged and Timișoara. Together, they are designing a smart solution to support zero pollution and smart mobility through shared data.
